Let me define our perfect. We were looking for a project house... we wanted a good solid house that needs updating, and that is exactly what we found! It's a 1960 ranch in West Meade -- a beautiful neighborhood in west Nashville with huge lots (most are on about an acre), mature trees, and pretty homes. It's one of the neighborhoods we've loved from the beginning for just those reasons. Not to mention it is only 5.5 miles from my work and convenient to the interstate for Ryan! This house has had one owner. You heard me... ONE owner for 50 years! She took really good care of house; however, most of the finishes are still original - I'm talking kitchens and bathrooms here people. But that is perfect for us because we're going to renovate this house to exactly our taste and transform it into our dream home in no time. Ok, maybe a little time... this is going to take some serious investment, but we're prepared and I know it's going to pay off in the long run, not only from an investment standpoint but we are going to LOVE living there. I could really see us staying in this house for a long long time. I'd like to thank our Dad's in advance for all the help and advice you're going to give. Haha... get ready! You're coming on this adventure with us because we're going to need your expertise and knowledge of the building world.
And to whom do we owe our house happiness, you ask? Our fabulous agent - Angela O'Neil. She is THE BEST. I'm not even kidding you. If you know anyone needing an agent in Nashville look no further. You will not be disappointed. She has been such a blessing to us in our search and genuinely cares about us and the investment we're making. And she'll tell you the truth- good or bad! In our case there was a lot of bad, but that's because we've seen a lot of pieces of you know what. But I have to admit, in the beginning the reason why we chose Angela to be our agent is because she was also our landlord. And that was the best thing that could have happened to us. Now we have the perfect house under contract and we have her to thank for it. THANK YOU, ANGELA! Thank you for your honestly, your direction, your opinions, for steering us clear of those shoddy houses and reminding us that patience pays off.
Now back to the house... I know you need details!
3 bedrooms / 2 full bathrooms
1787 square feet
Full size unfinished basement
2 car garage (yay!)
0.8 acres beautiful and private lot
Fireplace
Wood paneling - had to throw that in there (we're going to paint it)
Double closets in two of the bedrooms -- not to shabby for a 60s ranch
Elevator - yes you read correctly -- but we're having it taken out so we can gain back the 3rd bedroom closet -- and the company is going to pay us for it. Sweet. More reno $!
Ok, enough of the details... here are the pictures! Promise to see the potential! I cannot wait to post before and afters!!!
Our new house!!
This will be our main living space. We'll be painting the wood paneling and putting our TV over the fireplace
Looking into the kitchen from dining room - the fridge will be moved to the opposite side of the doorway and this wall to the right will be knocked out to allow visibility into the dining room. We'll extend the counter top to allow for bar stools!
Master bath -- everything will be changing!
Bathroom projects will be later since we're focusing on the kitchen, but eventually we'll gut this and knock out the wall surrounding the shower door and make a wall of glass to open up the space.
Guest room #2
Well, there she is! Ryan and I could not be more excited! I cannot wait to see our visions come to life!
PS- I forgot to take pictures of the garage and full basement, so I'll post once I get them. Afterall, I think that is Ryan's favorite part!

Congrats its so cute!! Luke and I just completely renovated our house, so if you need any help or tips just let us know=). Our biggest projects were gutting our kitchen and one of the bathrooms.....just be very patient because its trying, but so fun to see the results!
WOW, congrats guys. That house and the lot look incredible!
Although you know me - my heart weeps that you'll be tearing out those awesome bathrooms. I'd be restoring that whole place to it's original 1960 splendor, appliances, furniture and all! (in fact I just thought of the PERFET housewarming gift - from my old kitchen to yours! lol)
So that, and building an additional 8-car garage on the lot!
YAY! I've been waiting for this posts! I can't wait to see how it turns out. I see some painting parties in my future!
